About the Artists
Joan Gantz
Joan Gantz is a professional visual artist who paints in all mediums. She has studied under various artists at the LBI Foundation for the Arts and Sciences, The Yard School and the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts. She is also a critical care nurse, educated at Seton Hall University and Rutgers University.
“My painting has developed through many phases of media. Presently I am working in acrylics and mixed media enjoying the diversity on a variety of support surfaces. My subject matter has evolved from strongly representational to purely abstract. I give deliberate intent toward movement and emotion through my palette, brushstrokes, and texture. I work to engage the viewer for a shared creative experience. I rely on forms and subjects from nature and experience which inspire me to create.”
Pamela Flynn: Quiet Presence
The buds in Quiet Presence are peaceful studies of nature/form and one’s visual response to nature. They are meant to provide contemplative solace to the viewer as they do for the maker. The pieces are ceramic clay painted with oil paint. They are made spontaneously and meant to be a joy to behold.
Pamela Flynn is a mixed media artist. Her work is founded in social/cultural issues. Flynn holds an MFA from New Jersey City University and is a Professor of Art and Fine Arts Coordinator at Holy Family University, Philadelphia. She is an exhibiting artist of the Ceres Gallery, NYC and is a member of The Women’s Caucus for Art, Philadelphia Chapter. Her work has been exhibited nationwide and in South Korea. She is a recipient of the 2006 Puffin Foundation Grant for the project Road Shrines: A Peripheral Blur. Her anti-gun violence Project Considering Harm is traveling through the USA.
