Studio Montclair presents Roadblocks, an exhibition that delves into the concept of the barriers—both physical and metaphorical—that shape our societies and lives as individuals. 

The works in this exhibit explore—with diversity and breadth–how roadblocks are constructed, perceived, and sometimes dismantled. 2D, 3D, photographic, and digital artworks examine the ways in which the barriers in our lives often hinder connection, understanding, and progress and yet can ultimately foster positive growth. These imaginative works encompass inventive materials and techniques ranging from Scrabble cubes and mosaics to collage and multimedia to capture the dichotomy of themes of separation and connection, limitation and possibility, resistance and change. Ultimately the exhibit not only reflects on the difficulties we face as human beings but also considers possibilities for positive renewal. 

Augmenting this exhibit will be a thought-provoking Zoom Webinar on Wednesday, November 18 at 7pm featuring guest speakers who will, through selected artworks, delve into the tangible and abstract barriers that shape our societies, relationships, and identities as individuals. Hosted by exhibition jurors Lisa D’Amico and Debbie Silberberg, the conversation will feature special guest speakers Naomi Vladeck, artists’ life coach, and Jose Perez, artist and psychotherapist.
