Studio Montclair announces its 16th Annual Open Juried Exhibition “ViewPoints 2013.” Submit your artwork for consideration in this fine art exhibition now in its 16th year. Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art, in the heart of Newark, NJ’s Arts District, our co-sponsor, will host the exhibition from April 10 through May 4, 2013.  Recognized as a Major Arts Institution by the NJ State Council on the Arts, aljira fosters excellence in the visual arts through exhibitions and educational programs that serve as catalysts for inclusiveness and diversity.  Aljira is known throughout the region for such excellence as demonstrated by the critical coverage it has received in major arts publications and media. Studio Montclair’s juror this year is Helaine Posner, Senior Curator of Contemporary Art at the Neuberger Museum of Art, SUNY Purchase. Her exhibitions at the Neuberger Museum included Dana Schutz: If the Face Had Wheels accompanied by a monograph (Prestel, 2011). From 1991-1998, she was curator at the MIT List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, MA, was U.S. Co-commissioner for the 48^th Venice Biennale where she organized Ann Hamilton: Myein and is the author of a monograph on artist Kiki Smith (Monacelli, 2005).  She was curator of a mid-career survey of the work of Lorna Simpson which traveled to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Miami Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 2007, she co-authored the award-winning book After the Revolution: Women Who Transformed Contemporary Art (Prestel) with Eleanor Heartney, Nancy Princenthal, and Sue Scott. Volume II of this book titled The Reckoning: Women Artists in the New Millennium will be released in the spring of 2013.
