On Tuesday, March 7, Studio Montclair presented an informative discussion about how artists can secure grants, residencies, and fellowships in today’s competitive art world. This program is part of Studio Montclair’s professional development outreach.
Studio Montclair and the Healing Arts Program of Atlantic Health System present “Healing through Art,” an exhibition from April 2 to April 29, 2017 at the Montclair Public Library. The opening reception, from 6 to 8:45pm on April 3, 2017, included a panel discussion (7 to 8pm) moderated by co-curator Ania Lesiak. Panelists included several artists from the exhibition, as well as co-curator Maria Lupo.
Studio Montclair announces “Portfolio Series: Imaginary Places,” from November 2 through 29, 2016, at the Montclair Public Library Gallery in Montclair, NJ. The opening reception on Monday, November 7, included a panel discussion of the exhibiting artists and moderated by the exhibit curator, Linda Streicher.
Studio Montclair led a Draw Along at the Montclair Art Museum. Attendees were encouraged to draw models as well as fun still lifes that SMI members put together. SMI members were available for drawing advice and consultation. We had a great turn out, thank you everyone for joining us!
On Monday, April 18, 2016 at 7pm at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, The SMI Programs Committee will be screening the movie “The Horse’s Mouth.”
This exhibit gave viewers the unique opportunity to glimpse the artistic journeys of five Studio Montclair member artists, not only through their diverse work displayed, sampled from various periods of their careers, but by their participation in the November 5th panel discussion.
This workshop, facilitated by a board certified art therapist, is an experiential opportunity to learn about the mandala, its history and healing properties, and to create your own mandala, a reflection of your inner world.
We had a packed house for our marketing panel discussion! Our 3 panelists discussed professional development for artists from their unique perspectives. Topics included profiting from your art, visioning, and professional development.

We started with a hilarious Mel Brooks animated short on abstract art, followed by the documentary “Gerhard Richter Painting.” In this film, Richter, one of the world’s most famous living painters, reveals his own groundbreaking painting process to the viewer. The evening ended with a discussions of the creative process, moderated by well known curator and artist Margery Amdur.
