Three prestigious gallery owner/directors in diverse markets (a contemporary cutting edge gallery, an urban artists’ collective and a Jersey Shore gallery with a loyal local clientele) will share their insights, experience, tips and guidance about getting your work into galleries. After an opening discussion, pose your questions to the panel. We welcome non SMI members, so bring your friends!

Tracy Causey-Jeffery, owner and director of Causey Contemporary–a Brooklyn, NY based gallery she established in 1999 that represents contemporary artists from their emergence through their maturity. Her gallery strives to provide new and seasoned collectors opportunities to hear each artist’s individual voice. Over the past 14 years, she has curated some 135 exhibitions in her gallery, plus many outside shows. Tracy has previously worked as a sales associate and assistant to the director at Martin Lawrence Galleries and Cavin-Morris Gallery (NYC) as well as at A & J Superman and Bluetts in London.

Six years ago, Mary Cantone took ownership of the gallery her mother and brother had founded in 1966. She attributes Ris Gallery’s success and growth to them, to their unequaled commitment and strength–which remains the gallery’s driving force. Devoted to their memory, she maintains their high standards. In addition to working side by side with her brother in the early days, Mary’s career in space planning and design has included collaborating with artists and encouraging clients to embrace the fine arts with passion. The gallery, with its growing stable of artists, has a dedicated following and enjoys national recognition.
Jacqueline Cruz

Jacqueline Cruz joined cWOW as a gallery assistant in 2010. She now oversees gallery management, marketing and outreach, and program facilitation of its ArtReach, City Murals and Newark New Media youth arts mentoring programs. An independent curator, photographer and art educator, she studied at Rutgers-Newark University, and received her BA in Art History, Philosophy and Studio Art. The recipient of numerous awards, she has worked at the Newark Museum and Steven Kasher Gallery, NYC. She is active in organizing exhibitions and events to promote Northern New Jersey and the City of Newark as thriving arts communities.
