“Celebrate!,” initially on view at the Montclair Public Library from November 1-30, 2017. An opening reception and artist panel discussion was held on Monday, November 6, from 6 to 9 pm.
Studio Montclair’s 20th anniversary celebration is in full swing! In that spirit, this exhibition features art that “celebrates celebrating.” Work inspired by victories and achievements, like the joy of a job well done, the gratitude and anticipation of moving forward, or commemorating a personal milestone. Art that celebrates not only common events like weddings and birthdays, but also other perhaps more personal or uncommon unique events or commemoratives. This exhibition embraces the range of life’s many celebrations, large and small.
Curator Mary Z. Scotti, “Celebrate! is an exhibit inspired by the range of life’s many celebrations, large and small, and other more personal or uncommon unique commemoratives. Ranging from the intimacy of a glance, to dancing with hippos, to an abstraction of an explosion of celebratory lights these works are united in their observation of moments in life that commend our sense of achievement on multiple scales.”
