February 2017: State of the Art 2017

Studio Montclair (SMI) announces “State of the Art 2017,” an exhibit on view from February 3 to April 14, 2017, featuring the most recent work of 80 SMI members. The exhibit takes place in Studio Montclair’s galleries at Academy Square, the SMI Gallery @ Academy Square and the SMI Virginia S. Block Gallery, located on the first and second floors of Academy Square 33 Plymouth Street in Montclair. All are invited to the opening reception on Friday, February 3, from 7 to 9 pm. The galleries are open to the public 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday.

Exhibition Dates: February 3 – April 14, 2017

Reception Date & Time: Friday, February 3, 2017, 7-9pm

Hand Delivery of Work: Tuesday, January 31, 2017, 8:30-10am. You or your agent must deliver all work, within this time period.

Shipment Delivery: Work must be received between January 13 and January 27, 2017.

Pickup of Unsold Work: Friday, April 14, 5-7pm, Monday, April 17, 7am-7pm, Tuesday, April 18, 7am-10am. Artists must sign the wall label as proof of pickup.

JURORS
Virginia S. Block is one of the five original co-founders of SMI and founding president from 1997-2003. She has a long and varied art career working as an art teacher, a package and logo designer, and director of incentive marketing at an advertising and marketing firm. Ms. Block has been represented by galleries in Washington DC, FL, PA, OH, NJ, and NY since 1980 and is currently represented by a gallery in Seattle. Her work is included in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the U.S.
April Tracey BFA has curated hundreds of fine art exhibitions and has served on several panels judging entries for photo competitions. From 1988 – 1994 she owned and operated Art Noise, a contemporary art gallery that was located in Kingston, Ontario. A serial entrepreneur, she has created arts related businesses in education, manufacturing, wholesale, retail, import, and export industries. Her art can be found in public and private collections in Canada, the US and in Europe. She currently resides and produces her art in the Valley Arts District of Orange NJ.
