Started in Harrisonburg, VA, Art Lotto is an artist collaborative community-based group portrait exhibition OF artists BY artists.

For this show, each artist will randomly select another artist by way of a lotto system, resulting in a cosmic explosion of incredible talent and vision that will knock the socks off of Montclair!

Participating artists will spend time interacting through face-to-face meetings, social media, telephone conversations, etc.. Over the next several months each artist will complete a portrait of their selected person, in the medium and genre of their choice. In September, it will culminate in a big reveal and an incredible portrait show. There will be a celebration of the artists, their artwork, and the connectivity of art!.

Interested artists should RSVP online by March 2, 2018. There is a limit of 50 participants, and artists will be accepted into Art Lotto on a first-come, first-served basis. Participating artists will be invited to the “Luck of the Draw” event on March 11, where their names will be entered in a drawing. They will each choose one name at random (if artists are unable to attend the drawing, a name will be chosen for them by a proxy from SMI). Then each artist will create a portrait of the person they have chosen while another artist portrays him/her.

Note: Portrait is being defined broadly, the finished artwork does not have to be a representational or traditional portrait.
