The Window, a show that considers what painting, two-dimensional art, has become since Brunelleschi thought of it as a metaphorical window into a naturalistic, ordered world will be on display at Academy Square until August 15, 2014. The galleries are free and open to the public 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday.

Studio Montclair presents “Text & Subtext,” a new exhibit in which the member artists explore the use of text in art. The selected works all contain text that has been integrated as elements such as shape and texture, used to impart a personal meaning or opinion. The exhibit will be held at the SMI Virginia S. June 4 through June 28, 2013 at the Montclair Public Library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair, NJ. Studio Montclair presents “Full Circle,” a new exhibit in which the member artists explore fresh artistic perspectives about the circle.
5/17 – 8/12, 2013, Studio Montclair (SMI) announces “Fashion as Muse,” an exhibit on view from May 17 to August 12, 2013. The exhibit will take place in Studio Montclair’s galleries at Academy Square, the SMI Gallery @ Academy Square and the SMI Virginia S. Block Gallery, located on the first and second floors of Academy Square 33 Plymouth Street in Montclair. All are invited to the opening reception that will coincide with the Montclair Gallery Walk on Friday, May 17, from 6 to 9 pm.
Closing Reception Saturday, May 4 from 1-3pm. Studio Montclair’s 16th Annual Open Juried Exhibition, ViewPoints 2013, features the work of over forty national and international artists.
